Bar Babette is an atypical space for projects in Berlin. The building construction is from the 60s, the period of modernism in the GDR. It is built around a central wall which serves as a canvas for artists.
With Viron Vert's project the idea to pick up the optical structure of his carpets and transform it into a mural. In order to achieve this he designed a complex geometrical drawing in analogy to the patterns of the carpets which was then digitally printed on paper and hung up on the whole area of the wall. Thus he created a stationary piece which reflects the architecture and the history of the space while retaining a strong creative self-sufficient pictorial element of the location.
